The aim of the qualification is to develop each learner’s ability to coach safe and engaging multi-sports sessions in the holiday club environment.
The objective of the qualification is to provide a benefit to learners by supporting a paid role as a multi-sports coach in the holiday club environment. Whilst attending the qualification learners will develop the knowledge and skills required to be able to:
- fulfil duties of a holiday club activity coach
- drive engagement as a holiday club activity coach
- meet the deployment expectations of a holiday club activity coach delivering multi-sports
Learners and benefits
This qualification is for learners who aspire to gain and retain employment as an activity coach in multi-sports operating in the holiday club environment.
Learner entry requirements
Prior to registration for the qualification learners are required to:
- be accurately identified
- be at least 16 years of age
- be able to communicate effectively in English [reading, spoken, listening and writing]
The learner will not be eligible to deliver coaching sessions autonomously until 18 years of age.
Learner exit requirements
Education exit routes: This qualification will support progression to a number of regulated qualifications.
Learners may also wish to explore other coaching opportunities within multiple coaching environments, including community and sports club environments.
Employment exit routes: This qualification may lead to paid employment as a holiday club activity coach delivering multi-sports to children.
Recognised centre and qualification approval status
This qualification is designed to be delivered through local, regional and national training providers, schools, colleges and universities. It is accessible to any organisations which meet and continue to meet the qualification delivery conditions.
Qualification delivery model
The qualification is designed to be delivered through blended learning techniques. Ideally a combination of webinars and face to face practical sessions should be embedded. A protype delivery model is provided to recognised centres. This is fully aligned to the qualification and in consideration of the industry needs. It should be delivered flexibly to support each centre’s approach and learners needs. Due to the inclusive nature of this qualification alternative models will not be accepted.
Qualification assessment framework
The following assessment methods have been validated for this qualification and the strategy is confirmed in the Learner Brief:
- portfolio of evidence
- practical demonstration
The recognised centre will be granted access to the standardised assessment materials at approval. The assessment tasks provide a clear indication of the knowledge, skills and understanding which will be assessed as part of the qualification. The recognised centre must ensure each learner completes the standardised tasks and tools as designed by the awarding organisation. Each task contains the criteria against which learners’ levels of attainment will be measured. This serves to ensure comparable and reliable standards across recognised centres.
Qualification quality assurance
Internal and external moderation is required to be conducted in accordance with risk-based tactics. This serves to ensure that the level of monitoring is proportionate to the nature of the qualification, the workforce and the number of learners registered. This qualification has been assigned a low-risk profile due to its nature. The outcomes of external quality assurance interventions are recorded in TAMS. Any risks are subsequently captured via the Centre Risk Profile. Centre Recognition Risk profiles provide the emphasis for additional risk controls which are proportionate to any risks presented.
This qualification is developed in partnership with the Premier Consortia comprised of subsidiaries of the Premier Education Group as the leading provider of school activity coaches in England. The consortia is made up on Premier Sport, Premier Arts, Premier Wellbeing, Train with Premier and B11 Education.

This qualification is eligible for funding through 16-19 EFA and Adult Skills funding according to the Learning Aims Register accessed on 24/09/19. It is recommended each recognised centre reviews the Learning Aims Register prior to applying to deliver this qualification to ensure funding arrangements are still valid and in place.
